Adopt Me Symbols and Pet Name Ideas

Short, cute pet names and a few one-symbol decorations to try. We have not tested the game ourselves, so read the notes before you rely on any symbol.

Short cute pet names

Single words that are easy to read at name-tag size. We wrote these for this page; they are not tied to any pet.

Pet names in Adopt Me are small name tags above the pet, and they go through the game’s text filter like all other text in Roblox. Reports from players and from other fan sites say that names have a tight length limit, often described as around twenty characters, and that heavy decoration can be cut off or rejected. Other reports say that plain punctuation such as exclamation marks is not accepted in pet names at all. These reports do not agree with each other in every detail, and we have not tested the game, so the honest summary is: expect the rules to be strict and to change.

Because of that, this page leans on short names first and symbols second. The first section is a set of short, cute names that we wrote ourselves. The next sections turn some of them into small-caps lettering and into names with a single heart, sparkle, cloud or flower on one side. A single symbol takes very little of the length budget and is the least likely to cause trouble. If a name does not save, try the plain version first.

Emoji are the most likely thing to be refused in name tags, so none of the names here use them. Whatever the game accepts, the result can look different on another player’s device, so the look may vary by device, and your friends may see a box where you see a heart.

Small-caps lettering

The same style of name in small capital letters. They are letters, not symbols, but some devices draw them differently.

One symbol on one side

A name with a single heart, sparkle, cloud or flower. Fits more easily than a full frame, but we have not tested which symbols the game keeps.

Profile and trade lines

Short lines for places with more room, such as a profile or a message. Replace the words with your own.

How to use these names in Adopt Me

  1. Pick two or three names you like. The game may reject one, and it is quicker to have a backup ready.
  2. Copy a name and paste it in the pet’s name field. Players report that the rename option is in the pet’s dress-up screen, but menus change, so look around.
  3. If the name does not save, remove the symbol and keep the plain word. Then add one symbol back at a time to see what is accepted.
  4. Ask a friend to look at the name tag on another device, because it may look different there.
  5. Keep names kind and appropriate. The filter exists for safety, and names that break the community rules can be removed.

Questions people ask

Are symbols allowed in Adopt Me pet names?

Reports differ. Some fan sites say that plain text symbols such as hearts work and emoji do not, while some players say punctuation is refused. We have not tested, so try a plain name first and add one symbol.

What is the name length limit?

Fan sites commonly say about twenty characters for a pet name. We could not confirm it from an official source, so use short names and see what the game accepts.

Why does my name show boxes?

A box means the device or the game font has no glyph for a character. Replace that character with a plainer one.
